Kevin Richardson Rejoins Backstreet Boys
It's shaping up to be a huge day for the Backstreet Boys! Just as member A.J. McLean announced that he and his wife Rochelle Karidis are expecting their first child together, the band posted a video announcement on their official website about Richardson's return. "I think we should let them in on the secret we have," Nick Carter says in the footage taken during BSB's show with fellow boy-turned-man band New Kids on the Block at London's O2 Arena.
"Since we love you guys so much, especially in London, that we are going to come back, we are going to be back in July to record the next Backstreet Boys album this year," the singer told concert-goers.
Then Brian Littrell, Richardson's cousin, broke the big news, saying, "There's two parts to that secret ... And Kevin is coming back!" Naturally, the crowd went wild.
The man of the hour later took to his Twitter page to confirm the news, writing, "Hello beau-ti-ful people. Yes, the cat is OFFICIALLY out of the bag. It's on and crackin!"
Luckily, Kevin's departure from the group was as amicable as a breaking-up-the-band move could be. "After 13 years of what can only be described as a dream come true, I have decided that it is time to leave the Backstreet Boys," he posted on their website nearly six years ago. "It was a very tough decision for me but one that was necessary in order to move on with the next chapter of my life." Now, on to the new chapter of the Backstreet Boys!
After leaving the group for about six years, Kevin has decided to return to the boy band. Yesterday the group Tweeted from their official BSB account, "Now everything is back to normal...welcome back @KevinRichardson."
:: For a song called “Dark Side,” Kelly Clarkson looks awfully buoyant in these snaps from the video shoot.
:: Olivia Newton-John, who has clearly never seen Valentine’s Day, thinks Taylor Swift should play Sandy if and when they remake Grease. Which is slightly less blasphemous than previous rumors of Taylor playing Joni Mitchell and Les Miserables‘ Eponine… but only slightly.
:: The Wanted met “Mel Effing Gibson” — but he didn’t call them “sugar tits” and they didn’t call him a “bitch.”
:: Carly Rae Jepsen performed an acoustic version of the infectious “Call Me Maybe” for MyIsh. Watch it, maybe?
Below, find out which music acts will be appearing on the tube today.
While performing on stage at London's O2 arena as part of their supergroup with New Kids On The Block, NKOTBSB - Brian Littrell, Nick Carter, AJ McLean and Howie Dorough announced that they will return to London in the summer to record their eighth album, and Kevin will be joining them.
Kevin, Brian's cousin, left the band in 2006, but he has been reunited with his pals for live performances on a few occasions since. He is also believed to be working on a solo album.
Meanwhile, there was more happy news for the band as AJ also told the crowd he is "a daddy to be".
The 34-year-old singer and wife Rochelle Deanna Karidis also released an announcement on YouTube that they are expecting their first child together.
AJ said: "I just wanted to say thank you guys for all your love and support. We recently got married - I was the most recent Backstreet Boy to take the plunge.
"Because we love you all so much, we wanted to share with you - for the first time - something very special. We're having a baby!"
The singer made a very public proposal to Rochelle during a concert in Las Vegas two years ago and they married in Beverly Hills last December.
