Men stopped border illegal candy

Men stopped border illegal candy, Two Seattle men said they were detained for 2 1/2 hours at the Canadian border for trying to bring illegal chocolates back to the United States.

Brandon Loo and Christopher Sweeney said they brought back six Kinder Eggs from their trip to Vancouver, British Columbia, as treats for friends and family and the guard at the border pulled the treats from their trunk while searching the car, KOMO-TV, Seattle, reported Wednesday.

"He said, 'Are you aware kinder eggs are illegal in the United States and carry a $2,500 fine per egg?' And I actually laughed," Sweeney said.

The men said the guards told them the Kinder Eggs are banned because they contain a "non-nutritive object" -- a toy at the center of the chocolate. Loo and Sweeney said they were detained for two and a half hours before being let go with a warning.
