Nick Jonas Idol Judge

Nick Jonas Idol Judge - Rumors are swirling that singer Nick Jonas, 19, is in talks to become an "American Idol" judge. "Idol" producers reportedly want to add Jonas to help bring a younger demo to the show. Last week, it was announced singer Mariah Carey will take over for outgoing judge.

Mariah Carey has already been confirmed as a new judge for Season 12 of American Idol, and now comes word that the veteran Fox musical competition has its sights set on JoBro Nick Jonas and rapper Pharrell Williams.

Us Magazine reports that Jonas, 19, and Williams, 39, are the frontrunners to join the Idol judging panel next season. According to the mag, longtime judge Randy Jackson will move into a mentoring role and the two boys will join Carey on the panel.

Fox has not commented on the rumors, but Us says that Jonas flew to Los Angeles last week for a final meeting with producers, while Williams is currently negotiating the terms of his contract. Mariah Carey got $15 million for joining Idol, so you can bet that both singers have some serious dollar signs in their eyes — if the rumors are true, that is.
Jonas, who got his start singing with brothers Joe and Kevin in the Jonas Brothers, appeared on Smash last season and recently wrapped a four-month engagement in Broadway's How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. Williams has produced hit tracks for Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, and Gwen Stefani; the N.E.R. D. rapper also briefly lent his mentoring skills to X Factor last season.
