This will be the second marriage for the talk show host and the first for McNearney. Kimmel married Gina Maddy in 1988 and the couple has two children.
They divorced in 2002 and Kimmel dated comedian Sarah Silverman until they split in early 2009.
The host of "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" popped the question to girlfriend Molly McNearney while on a trip to South Africa, his rep confirmed to People. No other details were immediately available.
Kimmel and McNearney, who works on the late-night show, have been quietly dating since 2009, a source told People at the time. Their relationship followed Kimmel's March 2009 breakup with Sarah Silverman, whom he dated for five years.
McNearney first joined the show in 2003. According to IMDB, McNearney has been a writer for "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" since 2006, and a head writer since 2008. Kimmel, of course, isn't the only celebrity to recently get engaged. Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux announced on August 12 that they are set to wed as well.
