Marilyn Monroe Movies

Marilyn Monroe Movies - In the opening of All About Eve, Eve (Anne Baxter) is a young actress who wins an award, which displeases but several people attending the ceremony. The film takes us back in time to see how Eve became successful and why so many have hard feelings toward her. Margo Channing (Bette Davis) is a legendary Broadway actress. Her best friend meets Eve, who claims to be Margo's biggest fan, and takes the young woman to meet Margo in her dressing room. Margo is accommodating and Eve is eager to be helpful, so the young woman quickly becomes Margo's devoted personal secretary. Eve seems too good to be true until she starts ingratiating herself to all of the important people in Margo's life.
Margo begins to feel jealous, then paranoid, but how can she suspect such a nice girl of doing anything malicious? She soon finds out that sometimes what feels like paranoia actually has basis in truth! All About Eve was based on an original short story and radio play by Mary Orr, called The Wisdom of Eve. The film was nominated for fourteen Academy Awards, which was the highest number of nominations in Oscar history until Titanic, which tied that record in 1997. All About Eve won six Oscars total, for Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor (George Sanders), Best Director (Joseph L. Mankiewicz), Best Screenplay (Joseph L. Mankiewicz), Best Sound Recording, and Best B/W Costume Design. Critics consider Bette Davis' role as Margo Channing to be her greatest career performance and her most memorable role.

Considered by many to be the defining film of the crime oeuvre. After many years in prison, Doc (Jaffe), a seemingly over-the-hill and retired (i.e. rehabilitated) criminal decides upon his release to make one last go of it. His attempts at reuniting the old gang come up against the intentions of his partner who intends to start a Kentucky horse farm with his share of the take. Doc's lecherous tendencies for young curvaceous women get him nowhere but delight the viewer with standout performances by Jean Hagen and a lusty Marilyn Monroe. The tremendous character development is aided by Huston and Maddow's script, and Huston's direction. Based on a novel by W.R. Burnett. Remade in 1958 as Badlanders, in 1963 as Cairo and 1972 as Cool Breeze.
Two Struggling musicians witness the St. Valentine's Day Massacre and are now on the run from the Mob. Jerry and Joe cross-dress into an all female band. In addition to hiding, each has his own problems; One falls for another band member but can't tell her his gender, and the other has a rich suitor who will not take 'No,' for an answer. Roslyn divorces Ray in Reno and then meets widower Guido. He likes her but introduces her to cowboy Gay, and those two fall in love. When she learns that Gay, Guido and Perce are going to turn wild horses ('misfits') into dog food, she protests.
